Laser Refractive Surgery

What is laser eye surgery?

Laser eye surgery is a procedure which reshapes the cornea (front window of your eye) to reduce or eliminate short sightedness, long sightedness / astigmatism. We only offer the most advanced technology and procedures to ensure you have the best outcome.

Am I suitable for laser eye surgery?

If you suffer from any of the following then yes:

  • Long sightedness (hyperopia)
  • Short sightedness (myopia)
  • Astigmatism
  • Decreased quality of vision due to wavefront abnormalities

As with all treatments, laser eye surgery carries some restrictions. These are the most common restrictions for laser eye surgery:

  • Age: Patients younger than 21 are ineligible.
  • Pregnancy/ breast feeding
  • Prescription Fluctuation: Those whose prescriptions have changed significantly in the past year should wait until their vision stabilises before undergoing surgery
  • Certain medications
  • Certain health conditions
  • Glaucoma*
  • Very dry eyes*
  • Unusually Thin Corneas*
  • Unusually Large Pupils*

*Although laser surgery may not be advised in your specific case there may be an alternative procedure suitable for you. We would be more than happy to speak with you to see if you are suitable for one of our other refractive procedures.

There are three steps to better vision:

  1. Come see if you are suitable – we will take some measurements to assess if you are suitable and if so, recommend a procedure tailored to you and your lifestyle.
  2. Your surgery – the procedure takes less than ten minutes per eye!
  3. Your lifetime aftercare – you will have dedicated support from the team, including regular phone check ins and we will see you in person one month after surgery, or before if required.  Most people do not require any further follow up after that but if you do our door is always open.
