Cataract

What is cataract surgery?

Cataract surgery is the most commonly performed refractive procedure in the world.  Not only does cataract surgery remove your cloudy lens it can also be used to reduce or eliminate your need for glasses or contact lenses.  During the procedure the cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens, the power of which is individual to your vision and lifestyle needs.

We have access to a large range of advanced and specialist lenses to give you the best possible outcome.

Am I suitable?

If you have a cataract then YES!

Cataract surgery has the added bonus of also being able to treat:

  • Presbyopia
  • Long sightedness (hyperopia)
  • Short sightedness (myopia).
  • Astigmatism

You may not be suitable however if you:

  • Are pregnant / breast feeding
  • Have certain eye conditions (e.g. uncontrolled glaucoma / wet macular degeneration)

There are just three steps to better vision:

  1. Come see if you are suitable – we will assess your suitability during a consultation appointment, and if suitable, take the measurements required to recommend a procedure tailored to you.
  2. Your surgery – once prepped for theatre, the procedure takes approximately 20-40 minutes depending on the level of cataract.
  3. Your lifetime aftercare – you will have dedicated support from the team, including regular phone check ins and we will see you in person one month after surgery, or before if required.  Most people do not require any further follow up after that but if you do our door is always open.
