Hello! I’m Fadi Kherdaji, a specialist ophthalmic surgeon with over 20 years of experience in eye care. My journey in ophthalmology has taken me through general surgery, retinal conditions, corneal procedures, and advanced refractive treatments. Early Career in Ophthalmic Surgery and Ophthalmology

My medical journey began with general and surgical ophthalmology training in Cheltenham, UK, between 2001 and 2005. During this time, I developed a keen interest in retinal surgery, which inspired me to undertake further specialised training in surgical retinal conditions in London in 2005. This foundational period shaped my approach to eye care and vision restoration, reinforcing my commitment to combining technical precision with a patient-first philosophy to deliver exceptional results.

Advanced Training in Retinal and Corneal Surgery

In 2006, I took my expertise to an international level, undertaking a higher surgical fellowship in medical and surgical retinal diseases in Singapore. This advanced training provided me with invaluable experience in treating complex retinal conditions using the latest techniques. My commitment to refining my surgical skills continued, and in 2007, I was honored to receive the prestigious International Council of Ophthalmology Fellowship.

Innovating Refractive Surgery in Mexico

While training in California, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a leading refractive surgeon at the renowned CODET Eye Centre in Mexico. During this time, I refined my expertise in advanced laser vision correction techniques, gaining hands-on experience with the latest innovations in refractive surgery. This exposure to state-of-the-art procedures further deepened my understanding of vision correction, shaping my approach to delivering exceptional surgical outcomes for my patients.

Founding the Eye and Ear Hospital in Syria

After gaining extensive international experience, I returned to Damascus to play a key role in establishing the Eye and Ear Hospital. As chief surgeon, I specialised in retinal, corneal, and refractive conditions, bringing world-class expertise to advance eye care in Syria. Under my leadership, the hospital became a center of excellence, providing cutting-edge treatments and high-quality care to patients across the region.

Return to the UK

In 2012, Dr. Kherdaji returned to the UK with his family, where he continued his work as a Consultant Surgeon at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS. He focused on primary, corneal, and retinal conditions, becoming a key figure in ophthalmology in the region. During this time, he reunited with his colleagues Tony and Aisling, and together they formed Theia & Co, which has become the leading provider of premium cataract surgery and laser refractive surgery in Gloucestershire.

EuroEyes London

In 2023, Dr. Kherdaji’s expertise and reputation led him to join EuroEyes London at their newest clinic in the prestigious Knightsbridge area of London, as a Medical Director and Chief surgeon. His role within EuroEyes marks a new chapter in his career, where he continues to provide exceptional care to patients seeking world-class eye treatment.
